INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Family and friends of missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway are preparing for a vigil Wednesday evening and invite the public to come pray for the little girl.

They ask you to bring a candle to McCoy Park in Independence near 24 Hwy and Delaware Street. They will start at about 6 p.m.

They want you to wear purple and green, Jessica’s favorite colors.

Jessica disappeared on Friday from her Westminster neighborhood, which is a suburb of Denver.  Her mother last saw her heading off to walk to school, but Jessica never arrived. On Sunday, police discovered her backpack a few miles away from where she was last seen.

Jessica’s father lives in Independence, Mo., and although he will not be at the vigil because he is in Colorado, many other family members plan to attend.

“The more people we can get out here to show the nation we are looking for this child and we want her to get found and be found and be safe, then that would be appreciated,” said Larry Moss, Jessica’s Great Uncle. “We’ve got truck drivers nationwide hanging flyers everywhere they go, everywhere they stop, just trying to do what they can to find her and get her home.”

If you have any information regarding the investigation, Westminster police are asking you to call the tip line at 303-658-4336, or email PDamberalert@cityofwestminster.us.
