COLUMBIA, Mo. — The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide rolled all over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 42-10 victory at Faurot Field.

After a rough start, Missouri (3-4, 0-4 SEC) was able to limit the damage with a respectable second half. In the end, Alabama’s smothering defense and deadly rushing attack proved to be too much to handle.

Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) finished the game with 533 total yards on offense. Mizzou finished with 129 total yards. Most of the Tide’s yards came on the ground, as they posted a whopping 362 yards rushing. Missouri rushed for a total of 3 yards.

It didn’t take long for Alabama to put points on the board. On the second play from scrimmage, junior running back Eddie Lacy broke off a 73-yard touchdown run to put the Crimson Tide up 7-0.

Mizzou freshman quarterback Corbin Berkstresser threw an interception at midfield with 7:19 left in the first quarter. Three plays later, Lacy ran for his second TD on the day, and the Tide took a 14-0 lead.

The Tigers responded by having a punt blocked at their own 17-yd line. Shortly thereafter, freshman RB T.J. Yeldon gave the Tide a 21-0 lead with a 1-yd TD run. Yeldon poured it on in the second quarter with his second rushing TD of the day, a 15-yd run that gave Bama a 28-0 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff, Mizzou sophomore RB Marcus Murphy stopped the bleeding with a 98-yd kick return for a TD. The Tigers trailed 28-7 at the 8:24 mark in the second quarter, and took the reduced deficit into the half.

Mizzou recovered two fumbles in the first half, but were unable to turn them into points.

In spite of a miserable start, the Tigers came out swinging in the second half. The defense shutout the Tide in the third quarter, and freshman kicker Andrew Baggett added a 41-yd FG to cut the deficit to 28-10.

The game was still within shouting distance in the fourth quarter, but a third rushing TD by Lacy gave Alabama a 35-10 lead with 8:05 to play. Freshman RB Kenyan Drake made it 42-10 with a 3-yd rush TD with 2:28 left.

Berkstresser completed 12 of 29 for 126 yards passing and two interceptions. Berkstresser also carried the ball six times for a loss of 50 yards.

Mizzou has the next week off before they take on the Kentucky Wildcats on October 27th at Faurot Field.
