Girl in Skunk Costume Shot by Relative Who Mistook Her for a Skunk
NEW SEWICKLEY TWP, Penn. — A western Pennsylvania girl was hospitalized after she was shot by a relative who thought she was a skunk, police said.
According to the Beaver (Penn.) Times, the unidentified 9-year-old girl was wearing a black and white skunk costume at a Halloween party on Saturday evening when she was shot in the shoulder by relative who mistook her for a skunk.
There was no word on the condition of the girl, who was taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area children’s hospital, although authorities say that she was alert and talking when she left the scene.
Authorities say the shooting is still under investigation, and there is no word if charges will be filed in the case. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
