INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Kids have been out raking in the candy, but some teenagers in Independence have spent this Halloween season gathering food.

Twenty students at Van Horn High School are wrapping up their “Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat” project, spearheaded by the Drama Club and National Honor Society.

The students collected donated food from neighborhoods and businesses. They’ll deliver the food to a church food pantry to distribute to economically challenged families in Northwest Independence and Sugar Creek.
