KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver handily won re-election on Tuesday night, once again fending off Republican Jacob Turk in the race for the 5th District U.S. House seat.

The Democratic Cleaver defeated Turk by a 60-37 percent margin, with Libertarian Randall "Randy" Langkraehr finishing a distant third.

In 2010, Turk lost to Cleaver by just nine percentage points - his closest showing in the heavily Democratic district.

The victory marks Cleaver's fourth straight victory over Turk. The four-term congressman and former Kansas City, Missouri, mayor is the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus and was a speaker at the Democratic National Convention earlier this year.
