Pixar offers us their first female heroine in “Brave,” an action fantasy set in ancient Scotland.
“Brave” is a surprisingly dull and sparse animated feature from the guys at Pixar.  It's cute and has a good storyline but felt more like Disney than Pixar.
As is par for the course with Pixar, the animation is stunning. But this time out the story and pacing aren’t quite up to their usual high standards. Still, “Brave” is an entertaining lark that will have special appeal for mothers and daughters.
The story has an important central core but is so drab you won’t care. The film also has very few magical moments and a tone that will make the very young disinterested.
This is easily the weakest Pixar movie ever. Sure our heroine has cute red hair but that’s it. Take away the hair and you’ll be snoozing.

Director Oliver Stone returns to form with the violent opus, “Savages,” a taut and involving drugland suspense drama. It's gritty and, well, savage. Too bad that it's overlong and is saddled with a cop out ending.
“Savages” is nothing more than an Oliver Stone greatest hits package. This is so K-Tel like for my old school peeps and very much like a “Now” CD for the young  sexies. We’ve seen this all before but at least it’s entertaining, sort of — except for the whack ending.Bonus material includes commentary with Oliver Stone which is very entertaining. The Blu-rayfeatures a five-part featurett and deleted scenes.

Julie Delpy plays a writer whose irritating French family members visit her and boyfriend Chris Rock in the Big Apple for 48 hours...and the movie sometimes feels like it’s going to last that long.
“2 Days In New York” is a contemporary hippie flick. There’s a clash of cultures and race. A lot of talking. Very little action. t you get a chance to see Chris Rock actually do some acting. What?! Chris Rock has finally graduated from the Chris Rock school of acting? It’s a miracle. The movie is not.
