CANADA — Picking up hitch hikers can be dangerous. You never know what they may have hidden in their bags, coats or britches. But if the hitchhiker is nearly naked, you know they’re unarmed — even if they are a little peculiar.
But one Canadian man isn’t as peculiar as he is determined to raise money for cancer research. Mark McIntyre is trekking across the Canadian countryside in his skivvies to raise money for testicular cancer. He survived the disease himself and now wants to help others.
“Stanfields underwear is sponsoring me,” he said, “and they are going to give $20,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society if I can make it to Truro Nova Scotia in 21 days. Nobody wants me to freeze to death, but I will always have underwear on, but if I am on the road in the prairies maybe you guys can get me a jacket.”
