Five Dead in SW Missouri Apartment Fire

WHEATON, Mo. — Five people were killed in an early-morning fire in a Wheaton, Missouri, apartment on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, Mary Henning, Brandon Thurston, Jay Gimmicke, Mollie Doherty and an unidentified fifth person was killed in the 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning blaze at the Blue Ridge Apartments in Wheaton, a town of about 800 people located southwest of Springfield.

A total of eight units in the apartment complex were damaged in the blaze. The American Red Cross and local churches are helping those displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
