Former Platte Co. Lawman Arrested for Sodomy, Sexual Misconduct
NORTHMOOR, Mo. — A former city marshall in the small Platte County town of Northmoor was arrested on Wednesday in Johnson County, Mo., and charged with sexual misconduct and 1st degree sodomy.
Nelson Burgen, 50, became Northmoor’s marshall in 1990.
Beverly Baker, the city clerk of Northmoor, located between Interstate-29 and Vivion Road, said that from June 1990 to September 1990, Burgen worked as Northmoor’s baliff. Then when the city marshall resigned, Burgen was appointed to finish the term, which ran from September 1990 until May 1991. Burgen lost reelection and didn’t work for the city after that.
No other details were available about his arrest in Warrensburg, except that his bond was set at $25,000.
