Two KCMO Teens Injured in Shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A pair of Kansas City, Missouri, teens were seriously injured in a shooting on the city's Northeast side on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the two 16-year-old victims were found by officers reporting to a shooting call in the 100 block of Chelsea around 2:45 p.m. Authorities say that one of teens suffered life-threatening injuries in the shooting, while the other teen's injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Witnesses say that three 16-year-old males were confronted by a group of three Hispanic males and two Hispanic females. An argument began, and someone in the group of five pulled out a shotgun and opened fire.

The names of the victims have not been released.

"I was coming with my friends and then we just hear shooting. We came fast because we were scared," said Alma Torres, who lives in the neighborhood. Other residents in the neighborhood say that gang activity is on the rise.

"We hear that there's a lot of gangs against each other," said resident Vanessa Portugal. "There's just a lot going on with them and it's getting bad."
