End the Trend: Fans Cut Themselves Over Bieber Pot Smoking Rumor

LOS ANGELES — An unfortunate movement has emerged on twitter among young people, involving Justin Bieber, pot-smoking and knives.

TMZ reported Monday that the hashtag #cut4bieber has become the top U.S. trend on Twitter. People are posting photos of their bleeding arms and claiming they cut themselves because Justin Bieber was allegedly caught smoking pot.

The pot-smoking allegation came from a photo snapped at a Newport Beach hotel room on Jan. 2nd, in which you see Justin Bieber in a haze of smoke and reportedly holding something that looks like a joint.

The 18-year-old had no comment about the accusations at his Salt Lake City concert Sunday night, although he did tweet that “everyday growing & learning, trying to be better.”

Singer and actress Miley Cyrus also responded to the #cut4bieber trend, retweeting a message that said “#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.”

Bieber’s pal rapper Lil Twist, is also a player in the controversy. He was allegedly with Bieber last week when the pot-smoking picture was taken– and he was reportedly in the car instead of Bieber when a paparazzi photographer was killed while trying to snap pictures of Bieber last week.

Now that the unhealthy cutting trend has turned heads, many are now making fun of it on twitter.  Instead of showing you some of the serious (and sad) cutting pictures and tweets, here are some of the attempts at twitter comedy below over the strange (and hopefully widely exaggerated) movement:
