KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Facebook offered to settle a class-action lawsuit in December rather than face it in court. And, some money could be coming to you.

The $20 million payout stems from people who “may have been featured in a ‘Sponsored Story’ on Facebook prior to Dec. 3, 2012, the settlement said.

The lawsuit claimed the social network didn’t have the legal right to use your likeness in Sponsored Posts.

Facebook obviously disagreed, but rather than be caught up in court, decided to settle.

You might have gotten an email about the settlement and wondered if it’s real. It is.

If you’re eligible, you’ll get an email that will ask you to fill out a claim form, which takes about five minutes.

If you’re set to get a chunk of change, it’ll happen sometime after June.

However, “If the number of claims made renders it economically infeasible to pay money to persons who make a timely and valid claim, payment will be made to the not-for-profit organizations identified on the Settlement website at www.fraleyfacebooksettlement.com.”
