Social Security office briefly evacuated for gas smell

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A smell of natural gas prompted evacuation of the Social Security office, 3520 S Noland Rd., in Independence on Thursday.

The office was evacuated sometime before 3 p.m. Before 3:30 p.m., employees were allowed back inside and the scene was cleared by officials.
