KC high school junior receives perfect score on ACT
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Shelby Hawkins, a junior at St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City, Mo., earned a perfect score of 36 on her ACT.
Less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In high schools nationwide, only 781 of the nearly 1.6 million students who took the test “ace” it.
“We are so proud of Shelby and her incredible accomplishment. Her exceptional ACT composite score will be extremely helpful as she pursues her goals in higher education and eventual career,” St. Teresa’s Academy president Nan Bone said.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, and a student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. Some students also take ACT’s optional Writing Test, but the score for that test is reported separately and is not included within the ACT composite score.
