PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. -- The City of Prairie Village is moving forwrd with its plans to turn an old school into a senior living community.
The proposal is being met with some fiece opposition from neighbors who say it will bring down their property values.
The Mission Valley Middle School closed its doors in 2011. Developers would like to turn it into a retirement community. But those against the "Mission Chateau" project say it will be a massive disaster.
They say it's just too big for the area and will change the character of the surrounding neighborhoods for the worse.
At 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Village Presbyterian Church, the public can voice their concerns at a planning commission public hearing. The commission will be considering a request for a special use permit for the project.
