Man sentenced for trying to drown his girlfriend’s kids
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 24-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was sentenced Friday to nine years in prison for trying to drown two children in a bathtub.
In January 2012, reportedly high on drugs, Lamonte Brown was found holding a child underwater.
When officers arrived, they heard yelling and screaming coming from the house. Brown’s girlfriend let police into the apartment. Officers saw Brown with a child, trying to drown the child. They shot Brown with a stun gun and took the child away from him.
The children, who were one and three years old at the time, survived.
The girlfriend told police she believes he was high on PCP at the time.
