KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- According to a study conducted by dogvacay.com, 72 percent of owners feel guilty leaving their pets behind when they travel.

People will smuggle pets onto planes or into hotels or just travel less in order to make sure their pets are being taken care of.

On average, owners spend $247 a year on their animals while they travel. That includes expenses for sitters, boarding or traveling with pets.
