SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Police say her poison of choice was antifreeze. A woman in Springfield, Mo., has been charged with killing two family members and trying to kill another.
Police say Diane Staudte admitted to poisoning all three members of her family with antifreeze. Her husband and son died and her daughter remains in the hospital
The family's neighbors say they didn't know the family well, but never expected this kind of news.
"They moved in a little over a year ago," said Doug Standfill. "They're quiet, keep to themselves. We very rarely see them unless they are coming and going."
Staudte told police she killed her husband because she "hated him," and her son was "a pest."
The police said her daughter was poisoned due to her student loans piling up.
