CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools said they will lay off more than 2,000 employees on Friday, according to a news release from the Chicago Teachers Union reported by WLS-TV.

The cuts include 1,074 teachers, 451 paraprofessionals and 550 CPS employees, the station said.

Calls to school employees are expected to go out on Friday morning.

The slashing in staff is being attributed to budget cuts.
