SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- Lara Stanze's mother, Joy, lost her battle with cancer in 2010, but before she died, her family wanted to make some lasting memories.

"We asked her what her three wishes were, and she told us and they were swimming with the dolphins, then going on a cruise, and her biggest one was going on the Oprah show," Stanze explained.

They made all the wishes come true.  After realizing her family had a knack for making wishes come true, Lara decided to start a foundation in memory of her mom called "Spread a Little Joy."

"We only help adults, but you know- part of our goal was to bring the adults back to that child-like happiness," Lara explained.

Lara and her family get wishes from adults who are facing life-threatening illnesses, and they turn to their "network" of helpers on Facebook and Twitter to help make them come true.

"That's our network.  They're amazing," she said.

Some wishes seem impossible at first- like a wish for One Direction tickets for a woman with cancer and her 26 year-old daughter with Down Syndrome.  Amazingly the tickets were donated for the pair on Wednesday.

"We want to give these ladies a night they are never going to forget,"

It's what Spread a Little Joy is all about:  creating memories to last a lifetime.

And that's why Lara Stanze is a finalist for Ocean Spray's Sunsational Awards (To vote, click here)

Lara's also looking for a limo for Friday night's One Direction concert for the mom and daughter pair.
