Sunday’s Royals game was most-watched weekend TV program

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Plenty of you were watching the Royals win over the New York Mets on Sunday, when they won the 11th in 12 games.

Sunday’s game ranks as the highest-rated Royals telecast ever on FOX Sports Kansas City, averaging a 9.7 household rating in the Kansas City market, according to The Nielsen Co.

A  news release from the K.C. Royals proudly announces that Sunday’s game peaked at a 12.2 rating (114,000 households) and 24 share. It was the most-watched TV program of the weekend in Kansas City.

Sunday’s game soared past Friday’s extra-inning loss, which averaged a 9.1, as the highest-rated game on FOX Sports Kansas City. Friday’s game was the most-watched program of the day and FOX Sports Kansas City’s prime time average (9.7) was No. 1 in Kansas City, more than doubling closest competitor CBS (4.5).

Royals telecasts on FOX Sports Kansas City are averaging a 6.1 in 2013, up 54 percent over last season.
