Police searching for gunman that shut down I-35

NEAR GARDNER, Kan. -- Both directions on Interstate 35 were closed on Friday night as police investigated a shooting where one person was shot. On Saturday  the Miami County Sheriff's Office is requesting anyone that heard gunshots or saw any abnormal pedestrian or vehicle traffic to contact (913) 294-8477.

A Miami Country Sheriff's Office sergeant said that a person traveling southbound on the interstate near the Edgerton Road exit when gunfire struck them. It's unclear whether the shooter had a motive or was acting randomly. The injured person was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital with a minor gunshot wound to the leg. No update on that person's status has been given.
