SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — One bar regular in Oregon has the customary 20 percent tip covered with his regular bartender for the foreseeable future. Aurora Kephart told Q13 that one of her regular customers often tips her in unused Keno tickets. Last Tuesday he bought several and had her pick out two that she wanted.
The first ticket was worth $5, but that paled in comparison to the big winner, the second ticket that was worth $17,500.
“I automatically handed him back the ticket and I said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t take it.’ And he had me sign it, and he said, ‘You’re the only one who can cash it now,’” Kephart told Q13.
The generous man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, did receive a portion of the winnings according to the Eugene Register-Guard. Kephart said that her clientele consists of 80 percent regulars, and as it happened, the entire bar was excited for her.
But they’ve also teased her for what she plans to do with the money. She said she plans to save most of it but will also buy a new couch. An odd coincidence, she had been shopping for a couch earlier on the same day, but wasn’t able to make a purchase because she said prices were too high.
