COLUMBIA, Mo. — After losses by ranked teams across the landscape of college football on Saturday, the Missouri Tigers were one of several teams to make an impression on voters in the AP and BCS polls and made a huge jump in the rankings.

After being ranked 14th last week, Missouri beat Florida on Saturday in Columbia 36-17, and is now ranked 5th in the newly released college football polls.

The rank of 5th is the highest for Missouri since the 2008 season, with Missouri being the only unbeaten team in the SEC Eastern Division. Alabama is still an overwhelming choice as number one, followed by Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State.

With Mizzou ranked 5th, Baylor from the Big 12 is now 6th, followed by Miami of Florida, Stanford, Clemson and unbeaten Texas Tech.
