NFL offensive lineman leaves team after prank gone wrong
MIAMI, Fla. — The offensive line that leads the National Football League in sacks allowed didn’t do itself any favors after they pulled an apparent prank on the Dolphins’ starting right tackle Jonathan Martin. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that Martin was the victim of a prank in the Miami cafeteria on Monday and a result “flipped out” and left the team for a treatment facility.
Glazer reported the prank in question happened when Martin was the last to take a seat among the other linemen at a table. When he sat down the other linemen allegedly all stood up and walked away. Glazer reported that in response Martin decided to “smash his food tray on the ground” and left the team’s facilities. It was reportedly a final straw and now Martin is receiving treatment for emotional issues.
The Dolphins have listed Martin as out for the team’s Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an undisclosed illness. No indication has been given for an estimate on Martin’s return but the team has been in touch with him from the treatment facility.
