KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- When the Kansas City Chiefs season began, no one really knew what to expect. But after nine weeks without a loss, many are starting to think playoffs. The Denver Broncos stand in the way this week and with the game in the Mile High City, fans are making plans to watch the game.

The word for the week is "early'". Shop "early" if you are hosting a party, get there "early" if you are going to watch it at your favorite sports bar.

"Everybody's getting geared up excited for the game, getting their party supplies to have family over friends over," said Brandon Euler with Hy-Vee.

Grocery stores like Hy-Vee are expecting a huge rush of Chiefs fans loading up on the basics, like chips and pop and other favorites.

"Meat, cheese trays, shrimp trays and such, big items to get ready for those parties," explained Euler

If you're hosting, don't get flagged for delay. Euler recommends stocking up early in the week, but expects major traffic all the way up to kickoff.

For those who want to concentrate on the game, sports bars like Johnny's Tavern in the Power& Light District will do all the work and you won't miss a play. With 53 televisions, there's not a bad seat in the house. But if you want to sit in one of those seats act like it's a noon game.

"We are opening at 11 o'clock, I would get here at 11 if you can. If you want to come in and expect to sit down I would get here by 3 o'clock at the very latest," warned Natalie Kincaid with Johnny's.

If the first nine games are any indication, expect a lot of fun.

"It's a great time and the atmosphere is so much fun and it's very warm and welcoming, and the people that are here are here all day long and you get to know each other," said Kincaid.
