KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The local man, who traded his Chiefs verse Broncos tickets for a set of rings off Craigslist, spent the day celebrating a proposal on Sunday.

For Chiefs fans, this particular game was one of the most important games in years, but for one local couple, Sunday was the most important day of the rest of their lives.

Rusty Jones, who has been a Chiefs season ticket holder since 1993, decided to give up the tickets in exchange for the chance to be engaged to the woman he loves, Janie Tesch.

“It`s a huge important day,” said Jones.

Jones bought the wedding bands off of Craigslist from a woman who wanted his tickets to a Chiefs game. Tesch however, found out about the rings on social media, but jones kept it a secret as long as he could.

“I didn`t know at that time he already went to the Jewelers, met with her, found out it was a previous marriage, and made the deal,” she said. “The fact that Rusty would give up his tickets for a ring, that`s a big deal, that meant, like, you`ve got to be kidding me.”

Jones and Tesch spent Sunday with close friends and family sharing news of their engagement, and watching the game.

“It`s about us, not about the deal, or the Chiefs game, it`s about life forever with her,” said Jones.

This has been a special year for not only the couple, but also for the Chiefs. Both Jones and Tesch are huge fans and this season has been a memorable one.

“I`m getting ready to have a life-long streak now so, I win either way,” said Tesch.
