KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The automotive industry continues to be a big generator of employment in Kansas City. A Spanish firm named "Grupo Antolin North American" is looking to house a new manufacturing facility in Kansas City's East Bottoms.

The exact jobs figure is 118 positions.

A human resources representative with Grupo Antelin said on Wednesday that all but  three of the jobs will go to local residents.

Those employees will make an average of more than $31,000 a year. The company is looking for roughly 10-million dollars in taxable revenue  bonds for equipment and furnishings. City leaders are expected to approve the company's development plan at Thursday’s city council meeting.

Council members are calling on the full employment council to help the company get the best job applicants. The council's president and CEO said that Grupo Antolin has been just one of several automotive companies desiring a Kansas City facility.

"We have had a number of companies, Yang Fang, which is a Chinese supplier is locating in the industrial park, which will hire 700 people. Johnson Controls is expanding to hire 150 people. All of it has been driven a lot by Ford," Clyde McQueen said.

Ford put 900-hourly employees to work, after announcing a third-shift at the plant in Claycomo. That's where they're producing the new Ford Transit vans. Headliners for those vans are expected to be made at the new Grupo Antolin facility.
