Sandra Martinez (left) Peggy Pierman (right) were arrested on Nov. 22 after a four-year-old who had been in their care was allegedly high on marijuana at school.

EDMOND, Okla. — A four-year-old pre-kindergarten student’s classmates noticed something wrong with his eyes and demeanor on Friday, and it was discovered he may have been exposed to marijuana. When the young boy’s grandmother and great-aunt came to pick him up, they admitted to smoking marijuana around him before school.

Affiliate KFOR reports that officers who were called in by the boy’s teacher commented that his clothing smelled of the drug and his classmates also said he was acting very tired. Fifty three-year-old Sandra Martinez (the grandmother) and 52-year-old Peggy Pierman (the great-aunt) were arrested by officers who were waiting for them at the school.

They were booked on charges for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The young boy had stayed at his grandmother’s house on the Thursday night before the incident. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services released him back to his mother, she was reportedly not involved in the incident.

Smoke all you want responsibly; and to me that means not around children. Legalize, then tax the bejebbers out of it. Lets pray that sometime soon common sense parenting skills return to the masses. I don’t expect this miracle to happen anytime soon. For fun we should guess the ages of the females involved. Im not sure Ladies is appropriate. Sadly, we all realize the harm being done to the young fellow involved not through choice. Hopefully, we could be amazed this Thanksgiving by the abscence of these headlines.

I am pro legalization, but who cares. This case is clearly about family members using drugs (medicinal or otherwise) around a 4 YEAR OLD! I have smoked Marijuana back in my day, but NEVER, EVER, around children. I call this BAD BABYSITTING by the aunt and grandmother. They deserve what they got in my opinion, maybe next time they will be responsible adults when caring for a child.
