KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Visiting Angels Center is calling on senior citizens to create a folder in their phone with emergency contact information.

The folder would be called ‘Ice’, which stands for In-Case-of-Emergency.

That way, if someone finds a confused senior citizen in the cold, that person can help the senior find ‘Ice’ in their phone and contact all the proper people. A small ‘Ice’ sticker would be placed on the phone so people know to look for the folder.

“It’s important that we do this during the wintertime because of circumstances where people might be stranded in a vehicle or fall at home or gotten cold in their home and don’t realize that they might be experiencing initial stages of hypothermia, situations like that,” said Eric Teeman, Visiting Angels administrator.

Visiting Angels is one of the nation’s largest in-home senior care agencies.
