KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Powerful wind gusts sent a 70-year-old oak tree onto a house in the 7900 block of Ward Parkway Plaza Thursday night.
The couple who lives there weren't home at the time and neighbors say it's doubtful they can move back in anytime soon.
"Just based on the structural damage you know, I don't know that you can salvage something like that," said Scott Cook, who lives two doors down.
Massive branches punctured the home's attic and blocked the front door.
A crew from Custom Tree Service spent the day removing the tree which actually fell from a neighbor's yard. Dave Quigg is the crew foreman and he also believes the house is now a real fixer-upper.
"Probably going to have to take the house completely down and redo it," said Quigg.
The couple who was renting the house didn't want to talk on camera and neither did their landlord. The neighbor next-door, who owns the tree that fell, told FOX 4 he had the tree inspected when he bought his home six months ago and was told it wasn't vulnerable to wind damage. It's not clear if he'll have to pay for the damage caused to his neighbor's home.
