LAS VEGAS, Nev. — A cat missing for eleven years has finally returned home to his owner, thanks to a good samaritan and a microchip.

Spaz the cat disappeared in October 2002. His owner, Linda Edwards posted handmade flyers and looked for him everyday for three months. She says the last day she looked was New Years Eve of 2002. After three months she gave up looking, and still hoped for his return, but it never happened.

Until now.

Eleven years later, someone took Spaz into the West Flamingo Animal Hospital and identified him as a stray.

“He looked rough, dirty. He’s thin,” said Michelle Crosetto, West Flamingo Animal Hospital.

“When he left home he was 14 pounds,” Edwards recalled.

Edwards says she was full of tears when the hospital called.

Moral of the story: Microchip your pets.
