KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A single dad and widower, who got a car from the Car Santa through Operation Breakthrough, is unfortunately right back where he started, after thieves stole the car from him just 14 days after he received it.

Just weeks ago Wiley Carter was brought to tears when he received the keys to the gold 1985 Chevy Celebrity.

It was supposed to help him get to work and raise his two small children. But last Friday crooks drove off in his car.

“When we got this car from Cars for Christmas I thought we have solved this problem, and when he called I said, ‘Wiley I can't believe it,’” said the social worker at Operation Breakthrough who has been working with Carter and his children.

Sister Berta has been keeping in contact with the city tow lot looking for Carter’s car. If you or anyone you know happens to spot the stolen vehicle, please call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-tips.
