National Poison Prevention Week

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Daling McMoran, Poison Control Educator at The University of Kansas Hospital said adults need to keep e-cigarettes away from kids.

McMoran said e-cigarette poisonings are on the rise.

The University of Kansas Hospital Poison Control Center says in 2013 through the present, they've had the following e-cigarette related calls:

  • 13 kids
  • 2 teens
  • 5 (20 year olds)
  • 5 (30 year olds)
  • 1 (40 year old)
  • 1 (50 year old)
  • 1 (70 year old)
  • 2 unknown age (adult)
  • The death involved a man who injected the refill liquid.
