Juvenile rape suspects appear in court
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl appeared in juvenile court Wednesday regarding alleged rapes that took place at the Southwest Early College Campus during the months of March and April of 2014.
The boy is accused of raping the girl, who has Autism, multiple times. The girl is accused of standing guard in the hallway, acting as a lookout.
A district spokesperson said they take security seriously and are committed to preventing another incident from occurring.
Security cameras are working now. They weren’t when the alleged incidents took place. Additionally, two additional officers are on staff through the end of the year.
The boy is scheduled to appear in court on May 31 to learn whether he will be charged as an adult. The girl is schedule to appear in court on June 4 for her trial in the juvenile court system.
