Former Marionville, Mo. Mayor Dan Clevenger

MARIONVILLE, Mo. (AP) — The mayor of the Missouri community of Marionville has resigned over anti-Semitic remarks he made in support of a white supremacist accused of killing three people at Jewish community sites in Kansas.

The Springfield News-Leader reports Dan Clevenger resigned Monday night after aldermen voted 4-1 to start the impeachment process.

Clevenger said he was hurt to hear residents say he was an embarrassment.

His support of 73-year-old Frazier Cross Jr. resulted in the resignation of an alderwoman and the city attorney.

Cross is accused of fatally shooting 69-year-old William Corporon and his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Underwood, on April 13 in Overland Park, Kan., and 53-year-old Terri LaManno at a nearby Jewish retirement complex.

Clevenger said last week he believes Jews have played a role in hurting the American economy.

We can now move on in Marionville. I appreciate Mr. Clevenger resigning and saving the city from the long process and further division, Please attend council meetings in the future in whatever town you live in. Register to vote. Vote during election day. Get involved.

It makes chills run down my back to read this…and to know there are more people out there who think like murderer Frazier Glenn Cross! Even if they do not put their hate into action as he did. They are not born with this hate, it is instilled in them somewhere along the way. God judges these people later, the ones who do not receive judgement while here on earth. I did not know Terrt LaManno, but knew Dr. Corporon as my employer for many years, and Reat since birth. They were both outstanding people, well respected, community concious, very talented and giving in every way. Cross has no idea, cannot comprehend what a terrible deed he did in taking, no, robbing the families and friends of these two outstanding CHRISTAINS.
