RICHMOND, Va. — A teenager is being “medically evaluated” after police connected him to the attempted rape of an 12-year-old girl and the death of her eight-year-old brother. The aunt of the children said her young nephew tried to intervene.

In an interview with WTVR-TV, the aunt said while the children played outside, a person approached them and attempted to rape the girl. The suspected allegedly beat the boy, who later died of his injuries.

Police have obtained warrants for the Richmond teenager, who at this time has not been identified.

Murder should be the one crime where age doesn’t matter! If you murder someone and your under 18 you’re charged as a juvenile, Why? Do you really think you can rehabilitate a child who has already killed someone, hell no! You commit murder at any age you should be locked up for the rest of your life! Condolences to the boys family!

This is happening more and more amongst kids these days. This is so tragic. A little boy is dead, his sister traumatized, a family broken, and the kid behind this was obviously failed. Yes, he should be charged and punished, but as a society we need to look at what we’re doing to prevent this and stop whatever is encouraging these behaviors. When so many kids are killing and raping, you have to realize that the blood isn’t just on their hands. It’s on ours too, as a society, for we have failed them. Something needs to change.

Yes. These misguided children are the future of this country. It is sad that children are even thinking about, or aware of these heinous acts, let alone carrying them out.

Like it or not, this young man will not spend the rest of his life behind bars. He will get out eventually. THE LONGER he stays locked up, the worse he will be when he returns to society. I would rather see him get mandatory treatment and under the thumb of some very strict terms to stay out of the penal system. And possibly return a better person, than an enraged animal when let loose. Just my opinion.
