WASHINGTON D.C. -- A Liberty, Mo. mom who praised the Mid-Continent Public Library for the service it provides her family was at The White House Thursday morning to see the library receive the 2014 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

It's one of ten libraries and museums to win the award this year.

Alicia Moore of Liberty home-schools her children who are in 3rd and 5th grades. She wrote a letter about her great experiences at Mid-Continent Public Library, nominating the library for the award.

On Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama presented the award to Steven Potter, Library Director and C.E.O. of Mid-continent Public Libraries.

The Kansas City Public Library and Johnson County Library have also won the award in the past.
