Missing all night, boy found with dog on top of him, keeping him warm
COOPERSTOWN, N.D. — A three-year-old boy who wandered away from his home earlier this week was found by searchers with his dog on top of him.
Carson Urness’s mom called 911 after she scoured the farm yard and couldn’t find him anywhere.
More than 200 volunteers showed up to search for him, and a search plane and a search dog were brought in.
The family quickly realized that the family dog, Cooper, was also missing, and they hoped the two were together.
Then, at about two o’clock in the morning, about seven hours after he disappeared, they received the call that both had been found a mile away.
Carson was found safe. Cooper was on top of him.
Carson was brought home, and his mother said he had been pretty quiet about his ordeal, but did tell his mother:
“He came up to me today, and he was like, ‘Mom, I was really scared but Cooper laid on me. He kept me warm,'” she recited Carson’s comment.
She asked him about his feet.
“No, not those,” he told her.
Cooper was also once saved himself by the Urness family. They found him on the side of the road, left as a puppy to fend for himself.
