Overland Park native, Matt Besler, makes his way to the World Cup

PART ONE:

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. -- Matt Besler and Graham Zusi have played prominent roles in the United States Men's National Team run through the group stage in the 2014 World Cup.  Besler is the first Kansan to make an appearance for the national team in a World Cup.

Last December, Besler helped Sporting Kansas City win a championship. Now, the Overland Park native is trying to do the same thing for the United States at the World Cup. Besler's rise to the top of American soccer coincided with Sporting KC's amazing turnaround from the woeful Wizards to MLS Cup Champions.

So how did a kid from Johnson County, Kansas make it to the world stage?
