Possible child luring incident in Lee’s Summit not related to Greenwood incident
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Lee’s Summit Police Department has finished investigating a possible child luring incident and determined it is not related to a similar report in Greenwood. A resident informed the department that a suspicious person in a red van approached them about fundraising three weeks ago; a red van was also reportedly driven by a man who approached a boy in Greenwood.
However, Lee’s Summit investigators found the man and his son from the reported fundraising incident and determined the van is not the same and its investigation has been closed. The Greenwood incident is still under investigation.
In that investigation police say a man who was driving an older model dark red Toyota Sienna minivan with the words “First Year Anniversary” spelled out on the back window approached a boy near his home twice. The nine-year-old boy described him as white, in his 40′s or 50′s with dark brown hair and a goatee. If you’ve seen that man or the van, call Greenwood police at (816) 537-5020.
