OLATHE, Kan. -- Students and leaders at Olathe East High School, 14545 W. 127th St., were disgusted on Wednesday when they discovered what vandals had done to their sports field.

Overnight, someone spray-painted the track and football field with obscene images  and words that included a swastika and a penis. There are also drawings of a marijuana plant, gang signs, the F-word, and the term 'Suck on this" on the field on Wednesday.

The storage shed in the vicinity was also damaged.

When Olathe East football player Nick Allen saw what was done, he was not happy.

"It really kind of ticked me off. I  guess because that’s our property. We go up there every morning and we run. Someone just came up there and just graphically messed with it and that’s not cool," he said.

He says the football team discovered the vandalism after they finished their weight training in the morning, and then headed up to the track to run.

The vandals also spray-painted "GO SOUTH!" on one lane of the track, perhaps showing their allegiance to the rival school in the district.

"And I think that if that was a South kid, that we’re going to bring it to them for the football season," he said.

A spokesperson with the Olathe School District released a brief statement about the vandalism:

"We are working closely with the Olathe Police on this matter. Currently it is an on-going investigation. We ask anyone with information, to please contact the Olathe Police Department,"  it said.

Police estimate the damage is at least $10,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Olathe Police Department at 913.971.6951 or the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS.

A couple of the pictures in the photo gallery below show the obscene images and words. Proceed with caution.
