The newest commercial for a period starter kit by HelloFlo is making the rounds on social media and has received more than 17 million YouTube views.
It is so awkward. Some will laugh. Some will think, ‘Poor Katie.” Others will shake their heads at Katie’s mom.
All her friends have started their periods, and unable to stand it anymore Katie lies about getting hers. She goes to elaborate means to verify her fib, which prompts her mother to throw her a very uncomfortable ‘period party’, complete with a vagician, a red-velvet fountain, a pop-out cake and a boy band. Her mom invites Katie’s friends, her grandpa, and other random guests and sets up party-games similar to bobbing for apples and Pin the Tail on the Donkey, except these games have a bright red, menstruation theme.
