ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs got their final day of practice in on Monday, their last chance for a full-squad workout prior to Thursday’s preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Andy Reid said every available player would have an opportunity to play, and all four quarterbacks on the roster would play one quarter each.
“This is what you want to do in the preseason,” said Reid. “You’ve got a lot of young guys. You want your veteran players to get back into game mode. You want your young guys to show the best they can show. Everybody will play in this game. Everybody’s going to have the opportunity to play. You want the guys to get themselves, not everybody can make the team. So, if they don’t make this team, they can have some tape out there that they can show and you want good tape for them so they have an opportunity to make it somewhere else.”
Reid also said that defensive end Mike Devito suffered a hand injury during Monday’s workout, and was scheduled for a x-ray. The only rookie slated to start is free agent Zack Fulton, an offensive guard from Tennessee.
