GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – A dog is recovering at an area animal shelter after he was found abandoned and shot in the face.

Midwest Animal ResQ says the dog, which has been named Prince, was found on farmland in West Plains, Missouri, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. They said Prince more than likely had been dumped and shot by farm owners or other land owners, and said it was a miracle he did survive.

Prince is receiving care at Crain Veterinary Center in Grain Valley, Mo. He was in surgery on Tuesday afternoon.
