KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bomb and Arson investigators joined Kansas City fire investigators to try and figure out the cause of an early morning house fire near 11th & Fremont.
Neighbors called 911 just before 4:30 Tuesday morning to report the fire. A man who lived alone in the house was safe and staying with neighbors when firefighters arrived.
"The fire was intense," said Battalion Chief England, "We can't figure out the cause so we've called in bomb and arson which is procedure."
It appears the fire may have started in the back of the house where power lines were damaged by the fire. KCP&L was on the scene repairing the downed lines. The chief said the damage to the house was extensive but he couldn't give a dollar amount early Tuesday.
