KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 35-year-old Kansas City man is charged with sex crimes against children.

Prosecutors charged Charles Burge with statutory rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the probable cause, investigators tracked a series of pornographic photos that law enforcement officials discovered online to Burge. Court documents state Burge took “extensive steps to elude law enforcement” by altering the images using Photoshop or a similar program to “cover over items that might be used to identify his location.”

The graphic images show a prepubescent girl in various stages of dress in different locations of a home. Some images included portions of a naked man, which the victim identified as Burge.

Law enforcement records revealed Burge was arrested on Sept. 6, 1995 and convicted of felony rape in 1996 in Marion County, Ark., requiring him to register as a sex offender.

Burge appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 14.

He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
