Man critically injured in Westport-area shooting dies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man shot in the vicinity of 40th and Pennsylvania early Sunday morning has died according to police. He’s been identified as Ronald Shelton, a 39-year-old black man who resided in Kansas City, Mo.

Police responded to the shooting after hearing multiple gunshots at about 1:50 a.m. and found Shelton on the sidewalk, he was shot in the abdomen. Witnesses told officers that an argument preceded the shooting, and the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot two victims. The other victim was shot in the arm and his injuries weren’t considered to be life-threatening.
