KANSAS CITY, Mo - People in Kansas City went back in time to honor our veterans, 1940's style. It was for the annual Salute to Veterans event at Hangar 9 at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport.

Veterans and friends danced the night away to big band music and sipped on 1940's cocktails.

Vets say it's like watching history come alive.

"I just love it. I like to see the people from WW II. Their stories are absolutley fantastic. Last year they had four that were prisoners of war in Europe at the event here. I got to meet them and that was touching," retired Navy Captain John Shillingsburg said.

All proceeds from the Salute to Veterans event will go to raise funds for Honor Flights KC.
