KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- When you find a wallet and it's filled with cash, you're faced with the question: Do you return it or keep it?
Wednesday morning, Josh Enyart noticed something in the street that made him stop.
“I just saw the shimmer of a little bit of gold that was on the wallet,” said Enyart. He has worked as a FedEx delivery man for more than five years.
He then went on a search to find its owner and eventually tracked her down on Facebook. Dina Lester had packed her life into that wallet: driver's license, credit cards, and more than $100 in cash.
“It wouldn’t have been easy to see on the curb to begin with,” Dina advised.
She was grateful when Enyart reached out.
“He said, 'I'm your neighborhood FedEx man, I found it on the side of the road.' I said, 'can I come pick it up?' and he said, 'no, I’ll bring it to you.'"
Enyart says it’s his responsibility to take care of his neighbors. He can only hope the kindness will be returned.
“That day, I was getting new backdoor locks for my house because twice over the previous 20 hours someone had tried to break in,” said Enyart.
Doing good for his community, Enyart say, is just part of the job.
